Equipment Help (talech) FAQ

In addition to talech.com (recommended for larger upload/edit lists), product creation is available on your register application.  

Editing and creating products requires Admin or Owner access.  

  1. From the Register, go to Dashboard > Back Office > Menu. 
  2. Either tap on an existing product to bring up the product details and edit them or press theIcon of the add button.  button in the top right corner to create a new product.

Note: When creating a new product, the only 2 required fields are Product Name and Category. Everything else is optional.

Basic Product Settings 

Product Type The product type will signify 1 of the 3 different types of products. Regular, Bundle, or Assembly. You can learn about which is the right choice for you here Creating Product Bundles and Assemblies .
Category This will signify which category this product will appear within the Register. 
Name Enter the product name. Each product name must be unique. The system will not allow two products to have the same name. If you have, for example, a large and a small version of the same product. Refer to Product Variations for more details.
Short Name This is the short name that can be printed out on the kitchen receipt when enabled.
Description This gives a brief description of the item in the Register; this will also appear on the online ordering microsite when enabled.
Cost + PriceCost is what the business pays for the item. Price is what the customer pays for the item. When these are filled in, you can pull reporting about the profitability of products. 
Markup Markup is a percentage markup on the cost and will automatically calculate a price based on the cost and desired markup.
Item Number Commonly referred to a SKU number, this is the product identification code. Each item number must be unique. 
Barcode Commonly referred to as a UPC.
Track Quantity Enabling this setting allows the inventory tracking of this specific item.

Advanced product settings

 Tags Shows all created tags within the account. Choose tags to apply to the product. Remember, tags can be applied to multiple products in different categories and multiple tags can be applied to each product. Refer to Category and Product Tags for more details.
 Bundle  The Bundle section only applies when the 'Product Type' at the top of this section is set to 'Bundle' or 'Assembly'. From here, select the product constituents that make up the bundle/assembly product. 
 Taxes Select which taxes to be applied to the product. This is used for product-level taxes e.g., as specific products needing to omit or enable a particular tax. Taxes are also set on the category level. Refer to Creating a Tax Rate on the talech Register for more details. 
 Variations Enable certain product variations and edit the price and quantity of the different options. Refer to Product Variations for more details. 
 Modifiers  A list of all add-ons and exclusions.
